Pantone’s 2014 Color of the Year

Every year Pantone announces a color of the year that predicts the color trends for fashion, interiors, graphics and many other aspects throughout the consumer market. At the end of 2012, they announced the color for 2013: Emerald Green.  In response, this year we have seen a huge boom in the color Emerald, everything from clothing, furniture, jewelry and even house wares. Do you recall seeing this color?

Now the color for 2014 has just been announced: Radiant Orchid.  This is how Pantone describes this color:

“Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple – one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivation harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and heath.”

So who is Pantone? They are a “world-renowned authority on color.” Pantone has been inspiring the design industry for 50 years. They have provided the leading technology for color exploration. By creating the Pantone Matching System that offers standardized colors that design professionals can reference and the color will always match. Pantone has and will continue to be at the height of color inspiration of the consumer market.
